Sally Pond

Sally’s parents moved to Bordon in 1967, her grandparents and their parents all Hampshire born and bred.

The redevelopment of disused army buildings and land for much needed houses presented the family with an opportunity to stay close to Sally. Sally’s daughter went to local schools and her grandson benefiting from the excellent new Oakmoor school.

Sally has been a volunteer Town and District Councillor for a number of years. Many will remember Sally as Whitehill Town Council’s Mayor hosting the Farewell to the Garrison Festival where we were all able to show our fondness and appreciation to our departing Armed Forces.

Sally is East Hampshire District Council Chairman and also Chairman of Planning for East Hampshire.

Phillip Mitchell

Phillip and Alison have lived locally for over 22 years, moving in 2000 with their two children from Shepherds Bush.

Phillip worked for IBM in his early career days and in the 90’s set up his own business. Phillip believes that Bordon is a ‘wonderful setting with so many woodlands’ and believes is a joy to see the area developing into a wonderful town with many hidden treasures, such as the Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club (BOSC) and the Hogmoor Inclosure. Phillip said, “My greatest wish as the town grows is to build on our sense of community and double down on the minority that spoil it for others through petty crime and inconsiderate driving.”

Phillip has given up many hours to build the Speed watch scheme and is keen to plan for a Street watch type scheme. If you read this and you have an interest in either message via the website or social media today.

SJ Bartlett

Sarajane, known as SJ to her friends, has been a Hampshire resident for many years, moving to Greatham in 2020 during lockdown. SJ enjoys getting involved in all things local and in enjoying the countryside with long walks with her Cockapoo and in visiting the local pubs. SJ’s career is in marketing, having worked for both Microsoft, and Swatch. More recently SJ has been running her own local business sourcing and selling Italian wines across the UK. SJ enjoys finding interesting and unusual grape varieties and sharing them with others.

SJ enjoys helping others, volunteering and being part of a team, she thrives on a challenge and won’t leave a stone un-turned to get the job done. Over the years, like so many of us, SJ has lost family and friends to cancer and for the last 6 years has taken some comfort in volunteering at The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. SJ supports other good causes, including Mane Chance Sanctuary at Compton which is a charity providing care for abused horses to offer them a home and an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to benefit from interacting with them. 

 More recently SJ has become a trustee of a very important local charity, The Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust.

Ryan Ward

Ryan joined the media industry as an Intern in 2012 after his A levels, and in 2018 Ryan and Rachel decided to move from West London to Whitehill to make their family home. Ryan is a school governor for a Primary School and is driven to give back to the community wherever he can. He believes it's essential to support and create opportunities for younger people.

Three years after moving to the area, Ryan, and Rachel's first child was born, renewing Ryan's determination to contribute to our local community.

Ryan is incredibly excited for the future of Bordon and his family growing alongside the regeneration, "The vast amount of investment into our town centre, new schools, beautiful landscape and the lovely people make it an attractive place to live."

Emmanuel Anyanwu

Emmanuel migrated to the UK from Lagos in Nigeria as an international student, studying Software Engineering at the University of Westminster, London. As Emmanuel finished his degree and having fallen in love with the UK he decided to stay and soon found his home in Whitehill. 

Emmanuel has worked now for over a decade as an IT Consultant supporting a number of Government departments, including Immigration, Security, Trade, Work and Pensions. In his own time Emmanuel volunteers for a variety of good causes, including TLG (Transferring lives for good), a Christian charity that helps churches to bring hope and a future for struggling children. Emmanuel is keen to contribute and volunteer wherever he can to make a difference.
